What is Wing & a Prayer Productions?
The name 'Wing & a Prayer' started as a joke with a group of Tim's acting friends. It never seemed to matter how much time was spent rehearsing and planning, the performance always felt like they were 'winging it'. So they started calling themselves 'Wing & a Prayer Productions' and the name stuck.
When Tim registered himself as self-employed a couple of years ago the lady at the other end of the phone asked what the company name was and, before he knew it, he found himself saying 'W&aPP'. For business purposes he tends to use both his name and the name of the company. The latter tends to be used more when Tim's working in collaboration with others (when mounting theatrical productions, etc).
As time's gone on, the name seems increasingly apt; not that many things Tim does are last minute but because it accurately reflects the two sides of the creative process. The 'wing' is the hard work which goes into any endeavour, the human effort. The 'prayer' is, literally, just that; an acknowledgement that any amount of human effort is useless without being touched by the Divine. The two go hand in hand.
