Tim Crooks is a professional writer, living in Reading, UK. He has been writing full-time since 2005.

Tim was born in London to Anglo/American/Welsh parents, moving to Beirut when he was five. He lived in the Middle-East for the next nine years, in various locations within Lebanon, Syria and Israel. It was an enjoyable childhood, despite living through a civil war, Scud attacks from Saddam Hussein and artillery barrages from the U.S. Navy.
Tim’s education was completed in the UK in a more conventional manner. He was actively involved in both the Christian Union and Drama Society at Reading University; becoming president of the former and winning the latter’s coveted ‘Best Actor’ award. In his spare time he studied for a BA in Philosophy and English Literature and an MA in Samuel Beckett Studies.
Having spent far too long in academia Tim decided to get his own back and spent fifteen months teaching in Tokyo. After exploring the wildernesses of Siberia and Outer Mongolia, he returned to the UK where he now lives with his wife and a savage, man-eating cat. His wife has a proper ‘grown up’ job, while the cat produces most of his writing by walking across his keyboard on the way to the window. This happy arrangement means that Tim can while away the hours preening his hair and watching daytime TV.
Tim would like to think that his writing is characterised by a desire to examine and speak into today’s society. He enjoys challenging accepted assumptions and social norms, often through the medium of comedy.
